How can you use case diagrams in your Microsoft Visual Studio development life? First, let me tell you what a use case is. A use case is an example of a program's usage to give an overall view of how the program works. It shows what the user does on a typical use case scenario. A user is usually given various inputs and given a desired outcome.

So the use case diagram shows the user the inputs they are required to take and gives them the output that they are expecting. In other words it maps the user's actions to corresponding outputs. The mapping from inputs to outputs is called a dependency diagram. This allows a programmer to easily create reusable code. It also guides the designer as to what changes should be made in the existing code to convert the current input/output into the desired one without changing the interface.

Let's look at an example of use case development with the Microsoft Visio product. In the Diagram view of Visual Studio, select the view option and choose the use case diagram option. Now select the default or typical view and then expand it by selecting the Diagram view button. Select the bar option and place your mouse cursor over the user's selected action and choose the drop down arrow from the drop down menu and click the Create drop down.

You will then see two drop down menus, one for input and one for output. Select both and place your mouse cursor over the items. A drop down menu will appear to the right of the items and choose the copy option from the drop down menu. Now paste your selected text into the text box. Your use case diagram now shows you the relationships among your user data and their associated commands and events.

This technique can be applied to almost all object_oriented programming languages. There are many more advanced use case diagrams that can be drawn and used in VBA. Many IT professionals like to use case diagrams during presentations so that they can show a picture of a user interface to describe the flow of data through a program or system. There are also business users who like to use case diagrams to show the relationship between levels of management or groups within a company.

Another reason why you may want to use a use case diagram is to show your customers the relationships among objects. This can help you to present data in a manner that is easy to understand. In this way, you can show a use case diagram to explain the relationships among different objects such as products, views, menus, services, collections, etc. Use case diagrams are especially useful when you are trying to communicate technical information to your customers.

These types of diagrams are rather easy to create and should not pose any problem if you have a good program to do so. You will need to determine how you would like to use the use case diagram and then choose the appropriate graphics tool to do it. It is important to create a unique design for each use case so that it will be different from other use case diagrams you may create elsewhere. This will make your diagrams stand out. You can even come up with a unique design for each object or collection.

Creating a use case diagram is not hard to do but it does take some time and effort. You will need to figure out which features your business or organization requires for creating use cases effectively. You can search online for different resources to learn more about how to create effective use case diagrams. With a little effort on your part, you should be able to create a very effective use case diagram that will help you better understand what you are dealing with.
