Excel family tree template comes in two formats. You can either use Microsoft Excel to do the tracing process or open it in a word processor. Either way, you can use either program to trace your family tree as long as the date of the first document is considered the first generation.
The advantage of using Microsoft Excel is that you will be able to trace your family tree as long as you want and at any time you want. If you decide to use a specific date as the starting generation, then you can still use your Excel family tree. Otherwise, if you decide to trace all your family back two generations, you will need a little more than Microsoft Excel. Let's discuss how you can trace your family using Word.
First, you will need a template. You can download one at the website linked below. The website also offers free templates. Before you get started, make sure you check out all the templates. You should pick a template that works for you.
It's always best to print the template of your family tree so that you can trace it yourself. Start with your father and move outward. Try to follow the pattern of your ancestors and in particular, the most famous one is Anne Hutchinson.
Utilize the shapes and styles of the paper you use. If you have too much white space, it will be difficult to trace your family tree because you will miss the details.
It's also important to start your family tree with people you are familiar with. If you are new to genealogy, start with close relatives. Find out who their first cousin is and this will make your family tree easier to trace.
Family trees usually start with the first person. This may seem like an odd place to start your family tree. You will find that more people die as you go along and it is quite natural that a lot of the parents on your family tree will be named Anne.
You can also trace your own family tree. Just remember that the more people you name, the more difficult it will be to trace your family. This is because you have more dead people to trace.
If you do not have a first name, you can make a family with someone's last name. This way, you can trace your family that way.
Open the word doc in Word. Click Insert and choose Wordpad. Enter your family's full name and your father's birth date. Leave everything else as it is and close the Wordpad.
Then, copy the document into another document by clicking Print. Copy the manual generation number, so that you know which document to use to trace your family. This is called double checking.
Once you have the document, you can re_use the text from the left_hand side, by clicking the arrow and then Ctrl+A. Paste the copy from the right side into the word document and print it.
