Adobe After Effects templates are available in both standard and premium versions. For individuals on a budget, the free templates are an excellent choice. However, if you need to create a stunning presentation for a corporate event or presentation at a school or university, then the standard or premium version will be more suited to your needs. You can either use the templates or add_ons that come included with After Effects CS5.
The basic templates are usually the same as the ones found in the higher version. They still have basic shapes, text effects, a rendered background, and a selection of motion effects. You can customize these basic templates to your liking by adjusting the color scheme, the background color, the font, and the fill color. You can also adjust the shadow volume, adjust the clippings, and apply 3D effects like fireballs, smoke, and fog.
These basic templates cover everything that is required to render a simple presentation. Motion effects that are used in these templates can be adjusted as well. You can create a moving effect that spans the entire frame or simply focus on one part of it. You can use a wide range of motion options, depending on the content of the slides. For example, you can move a particular image or graphic all over the frame or just a specific part of it. The options for this effect are endless.
You can also adjust the appearance of text in the templates. You can create a colored box that is filled with a specified color. You can also choose from a variety of fonts. Text effects are a great way to enhance the appearance of your slides. The size, style, and position of the text can be manipulated as much as the rest of the graphics in the template.
For text effects, you will only need to place a rectangular selection on any text element. Then, adjust the font, size, and position of it to get the effect that you want. You can use different fonts, colors, and formats of text. It is even possible to create custom texts. For example, you can write the name of your selection out and then fill it in using your own writing tool.
You can also modify any other graphic objects in the templates _ such as photos or icons. You can change the size, color, and transparency of them using the color, shape, and pattern_effect settings. You can use the opacity, transformation, overlay, and blend effect options for these objects as well. For example, you can make a selection big enough to display a selection pattern on and then create a fade in effect around it. You can do the same for objects such as text or selection boxes.
There are many more graphic objects in the templates _ including icons. You can select any icon or graphic to place during the presentation. By modifying the visibility, size, position, and clarity of the icon, you can customize the effect for each slide. The effects include everything from exploding balloons to moving shadows and it's all possible with the right control panel and effect settings.
While there are certainly other things you can do with templates other than modifying visual details, the main things to remember about templates are that they are easy to customize and that they save time.
