Research papers are typically written to be shared by graduate students in their first attempt at research work, and as such are often quite detailed. Many times, students are encouraged to expand their research after they've written their paper _ either by working with a professional academic editor, writing more material for the research paper itself, or by submitting it to a peer reviewed journal. Whatever the method, the main goal is usually to present a new or unique idea, theory, or an observation that's been collected and has its own merits. Writing a research paper entails compiling this information into an outline or a single essay that can then be presented in a few paragraphs.
There are several different research proposal format types. The most widely used nowadays are the so_called hybrid model, which combines the best aspects of both the outline and the proposal format. A hybrid proposal will consist of a thesis statement accompanied by at least a short paragraph discussing why the research topic is important, what the research shows, and what the implications are. Additional paragraphs could then discuss the research methodology, data, and findings, and other related details.
The difference between these two formats is simply that the thesis statement in the hybrid paper is designed to be read as a whole. It's written in a conversational, perhaps even humorous style. Unlike a research proposal that's usually meant to make a more profound point, a hybrid paper is one that's intended more to entertain. However, by making it more like a story, it actually makes the research process easier for graders to process.
Another common research proposal format is the bibliography, or citation of sources. A brief citation of sources helps establish who did what and how. Citations must be complete and comply with the APA style. In general, you should cite your sources using the first person, that is, by their name, thus: Jacks, R. (eds.) ). Research paper proposal writing can be tough work, so do not take it too seriously...a few citations here and there go a long way.
One more format that can help you in your research proposal writing is called the thesis statement and case study. Students often use this format when writing their technical proposals. In fact, I still use it sometimes when I teach graduate_level studies. The thesis statement and case study are essentially a short summary of the research topic, its definition, and the reasons why the writer believes it's worthy of a Ph.D.
For those who may not be familiar with it, the thesis is the crux of a Ph.D. dissertation. And when writing a research paper proposal, you need to make sure that the thesis is worthy of a Ph.D. candidate. If it is not complete, concise, and correct, the reading level of your audience will suffer.
This is just one component of a research write up. In order to have all three components read and understood, it needs to be organized.
