You can start making a budget in Excel by creating a new workbook or worksheet. First, right click on your financial worksheet and choose the option for creating a new worksheet or file. You will be given two choices _ a blank or a tabbed option. If you are going to use the blank option, just name your budgeting cells accordingly and copy all the information from your previous budgeting sheets.
After you have made the necessary selections, you can now add the necessary columns. Enter all the relevant information including the following: Year, Month, Day, salary, taxes, expenses, tips (e.g. how much you make per hour) and any other details you would like to include. The data you input here will be shown in the form of a table or a chart. Using a simple excel home budget template makes the creation of these charts and tables fast and easy.
When you have finished entering all the required details, you can now highlight all the columns and change the values according to your preferences. You can change the budgeting columns to your personal preferences such as hourly wage, tips, and taxes. Use tabs to ensure that the values are fixed.
Next select the column where you would like to add a new budget category. If you are creating a spreadsheet based on a specific budgeting goal then you can simply choose budget under the budgeting cells category. If you would like to create a budget based on a range of categories, then you can either drag the categories around within the template or right click on the category and choose" Moves to" or "Add to." After selecting a category, the available choices will appear.
You can also add columns for your expenses in terms of per day, per month and per year. You can also select the column where you wish to include the balance for your savings and investments i.e. Cash, Savings Account, 401K's etc. Finally, you can drag the left portion of the budgeting range to the left to display all the figures in a separate column.
To edit the budgeting cells, first click on the "View" link on the main menu of Excel. Then type a number in the text box and click on the "anova" button. Now click on the "Data" tab, and type a meaningful name for each budgeting category. Click OK to save the changes. Again click on the "sheet" option from the main menu to display a new spreadsheet.
You can either download a fully functioning Excel template or you can get one that has a number of features that may be useful in your budgeting. An Excel template with various spreadsheets is very simple to use and it allows you to experiment with different types of budgeting. A fully featured template is however more complex and requires learning how to use all Excel formulas. A template which provides a range of budgeting categories is perhaps the simplest and most effective way of managing a monthly budget.
